Commercial trucks like the Ford F-750 and Freightliner M2 106 can be set up to serve many roles. Whatever you need transported around Indianapolis, Avon, and Plainfield, they'll be able to take care of it for you. So, which one is right for you and your needs? Andy Mohr Truck Center helps you decide with this Ford F-750 vs. Freightliner M2 106 comparison.

Ford F-750 vs Freightliner M2 106 Performance

The new Ford F-750 truck offers two capable powertrains. The first one is a 6.8L Triton® V10 3-valve gasoline engine, which also works alongside a 12V Denso® starting motor. This combination is available on Straight Frame trucks and delivers up to 320 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.

The second option is also available with Straight Frame trucks, but it can also power a Tractor. It's a 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel engine. The standard configuration gets up to 270 horsepower and 675 lb-ft of torque, but it can be equipped to reach up to 330 horsepower and 725 lb-ft of torque.

To manage these engines, both are fitted with a TorqShift® HD 6-speed automatic transmission and a Live-Drive Power Takeoff (PTO) Provision to boost your acceleration.

The Freightliner M2 106 offers four capable powertrains, but it doesn't give you the same fuel options. Plus, its acceleration is sluggish without the Live-Drive PTO Provision.

Ford F-750 vs Freightliner M2 106 Design

Both the Ford F-750 and the Freightliner M2 106 are available in three different cab sizes. However, the F-750 focuses more on comfort. Its wide seats lie inside an open and roomy cabin.

With its engine positioned further front, this truck doesn't sacrifice any of your space inside. This allows it to feel more like you're driving a car and makes all your trips easier and more comfortable.

The Freightliner M2 106 sits higher and can feel like a larger and bulkier truck, which takes away from its comfort level and makes it feel like more of a chore to drive.

Ford F-750 vs Freightliner M2 106 Technology

The Ford F-750 keeps you connected on the right path with the Ford SYNC® infotainment system. This voice-activated system allows you to change songs, take calls, and enter a destination into your navigation system without taking your hands off the wheel.

While the Ford gives you the same system and level of convenience as it provides its residential cars, the Freightliner M2 106 comes up short. It has an AM/FM radio but doesn't feature a comparable infotainment system.
